Glass fiber reinforced plastic, also known as FRP(fiber reinforced plastics), is a kind of fiber reinforced composite material. According to the different fibers used, it can be divided into glass fiber reinforced composite plastics (GFRP), carbon fiber reinforced composite plastics (CFRP), boron fiber reinforced composite plastics, etc., is a kind of glass fiber and its products (glass cloth, tape, felt, yarn, etc.) Composite materials, etc.) as a reinforcing material, synthetic resin as a matrix material. Fiber-reinforced composites consist of reinforcing fibers and a matrix. The diameter of the fiber (or whisker) is very small, generally below 10 μm, and the defect is getting smaller and smaller. The strain at break is about 1000. It is a brittle material, susceptible to damage, fracture and corrosion. Compared with fiber, the strength and modulus of the matrix are much lower, but it can withstand larger strains, often has viscoelasticity and elastoplasticity, and is a tough material.
Basically, there are two types, namely, a wet contact type and a dry compression type. For example, according to the process characteristics, there are hand lay-up, lamination, RTM, extrusion, molding, winding, etc. The hand paste method includes hand paste method, pressure bag method, spray method, wet paste low pressure method and invisible hand paste method.
At present, there are four forming methods most used in the world.
(1) Hand paste method: mainly used in Norway, Japan, Britain, Denmark and other places; spraying method: mainly used in Sweden, the United States, Norway and other places; molding method: mainly used in Germany and other countries.
(4)RTM method (resin transfer molding): mainly used in Europe and the United States, Japan.
Also: fiber winding, pultrusion, hot pressing, etc.
